Dr. Miles Mazzawi

Dr. Mazzawi is a trusted board-certified pediatric dentist near Holly Springs who is originally from Snellville, Georgia. Following in the footsteps of various family members who are practicing dentists, he has been practicing for more than 20 years!

After completing his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in 1997, he went on to complete his dental degree at the Medical College of Georgia in 2001. After practicing dentistry in his family’s office for two years, he decided to return to school so that he could work with children.

He completed a pediatric dental residency at the Health Science Center of San Antonio in 2005 and now devotes his time to helping young smiles thrive.

As a member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, the American College of Dentists, and more, he remains devoted to supporting children’s oral health.

Outside the office, he and his wife Dr. Drew have twin daughters, Anne and Mary, and they enjoy traveling and spending lots of time outdoors. He’s also a runner, biker, swimmer, and an avid sports fan.

Dr. Anthea Drew Mazzawi

Alongside Dr. Mazzawi is Cherokee Children’s Dentistry’s very own Dr. Drew. As a board-certified pediatric dentist near Holly Springs, she enjoys getting to see young children embrace healthier smiles as they grow and mature.

Enjoying the ability to work with her hands and help individuals enjoy better oral health, Dr. Drew appreciates the opportunity to build warm and long-lasting relationships with those she treats.

She completed her dental program at the University of Florida College of Dentistry before entering the pediatric dental residency program at the Medical University of South Carolina. Moving to Atlanta, she joined a large dental office and earned her board certification as a pediatric dentist in 2006.

She then started at Cherokee Children’s Dentistry in 2007 and remains integral in the industry. She previously served as president of The College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in 2018. She has also been active as part of various councils and committees.

When she’s not busy helping improve children’s smiles, you’ll often find her spending time with her husband, her twin girls, and their family’s two Labrador Retrievers. She also enjoys traveling and going to sporting events as well as running marathons and entertaining friends.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about finding the right pediatric dentist near Holly Springs? Want to know more about your child’s oral healthcare needs? At Cherokee Children’s Dentistry, we make it easy to get the answers you need. Review the following frequently asked questions below and reach out if you would like to know more. Our team is here and ready to help!

What is the best way to find a pediatric dentist?

When searching for a pediatric dentist near Holly Springs, you can ask for recommendations from family members and friends, or you can let Google do the work for you. Entering search terms like “pediatric dentist near me” or “pediatric dentists near Holly Springs” will lend multiple results. Establishing some criteria as to what kind of environment you want your child in can help you narrow down your search.

As you read through the bios on various web pages, you’ll learn about the dentist’s educational and professional experience as well as whether they are board-certified or not. Choosing someone who is board-certified will give you greater peace of mind, as it indicates they possess a higher level of expertise.

Cherokee Children’s Dentistry is pleased to have multiple board-certified pediatric dentists on staff.

How do I get my child emergency dental care?

You’ll want to call the practice to alert a member of the front desk team of the situation. Whether your child has knocked out a tooth, lacerated their gums, broken a tooth, or is suffering from a bothersome toothache, staff can offer first-aid tips to minimize pain while waiting for an appointment.

While on the phone, they will indicate a time for you to bring your child in for timely treatment. After you and your child’s arrival, digital images will be taken as well as a comprehensive visual examination of their mouth. Based on the dentist’s findings, appropriate treatment options will be provided, such as a dental filling, dental crown, pulp therapy, or tooth extraction.

What level of education is required to be a pediatric dentist?

To become a pediatric dentist, you must first graduate from an accredited undergraduate program before enrolling in one of the 67 established dental schools throughout the country. Typically, dental school is three years, and it combines both classroom instruction and hands-on training.

After completing dental school, you have the option to pursue general dentistry or a more specialized field, like pedodontics. If you choose to become a pediatric dentist, you’ll need to attend additional schooling and receive more advanced training that is tailored to focus on young patients and their developing smile.

What do you do if you can’t afford a pediatric dentist?

It’s never a good idea to have your child skip an appointment or cancel it altogether. Missed dental visits can lead to more serious problems – costly and invasive ones, too. Instead of assuming oral healthcare is out of your financial reach, inquire about alternative payment solutions, like flexible financing.

Partnering with CareCredit, you can choose from one of many plans varying in length and offer low or no interest. Instead of being forced to pay the full amount upfront, you can pay it out over time or a more manageable approach.
