Since opening the doors to Cherokee Children’s Dentistry in 2007, Dr. Drew has loved coming into work each day and getting to interact with kids of all ages while providing them with excellent oral healthcare! Seeing their young patients grow up and mature over time is an incredibly rewarding experience that she wouldn’t trade for the world. Interested in learning more about her? Just keep reading below.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Drew chose to become a dentist because she liked the idea of creating warm relationships with her patients that would hopefully span years. She’s also always enjoyed working with her hands and being creative, which is perfect for the dental field! Plus, working with children specifically allows her to showcase her fun and silly side on a daily basis.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
After completing the dental program at the University of Florida College of Dentistry, Dr. Drew went straight into a pediatric dental residency program at the Medical University of South Carolina. She then moved to Atlanta, joined a large group dental office, and became a Board-Certified pediatric dentist in 2006 before starting Cherokee Children’s Dentistry the following year!
Since then, Dr. Drew has been heavily involved with organized dentistry. She served as the president of The College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in 2018 and has also been a part of several committees and councils for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Currently, she is the chairman of the Scientific Program Committee for the Annual Session, the chairman of the Greater Atlanta Dental Foundation Gala Committee (an event that raises funds to meet the needs of several free/reduced fee clinics in Atlanta), and the secretary for the GA Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She is additionally a member of the following organizations:
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Drew is married to Dr. Miles, and they love working together as the co-owners of Cherokee Children’s Dentistry! They have twin daughters named Anne and Mary, as well as two Labrador Retrievers named Duke and Ford. When she isn’t busy at the dental office, travel is her biggest passion – she always looks forward to exploring the world with loved ones! Some other personal interests include going to college sporting events (especially football), running marathons (including the New York Marathon twice and the Paris Marathon), and entertaining friends and family at home. She is always happiest when her house is full of people, fun, and love.
